Ganapatipule

Hi Friends,

I and Lalit had been to one of the beautiful places in the Southern-West coast of Konkan, a place as divine as its name “Ganapatipule”. It’s easily reachable as it’s just 48 kms. from the Ratnagiri city.

The Maharashtra Tourism Resort is close to the beach. Our cottage was close to the sea. One could enjoy the vast expanse of the ocean sitting in the balcony and just feel relaxed.

At about 3 kms. From this place is a paradise for Marathi literature lovers. The birth place of great Marathi poet “Keshavsut” at Malgund. The place takes you to a different world of simplicity and serenity and makes one realize what a great potential in the form of this poet with his mind-blowing poetries “Nava Shipai”, “Tutari”, etc. and many othters. Just his words reflect the unrest in the Indian minds against British Raj. In today’s competitive world, a place like this makes you taken aback of intellectual potential times ago and makes you think how many such Keshavsuts are residing in our Indian villages!

The temple of Lord Ganesh is just an excellent work piece of ancient architecture standing beside the vast Arabian Sea. There goes an interesting story about the Lord worshipped at this place. The Lord in the temple is Swayambhu i.e. he has come from the earth (hill) and not created by man. There is no visible demarcation of various parts of Lord Ganesh, in fact some of the parts of his body are under the earth. Hence devotees perform the pradakshina around the hill instead the temple assuming the hill as Lord Ganesh. Interestingly on the opposite side of the hill while doing the pradakshina you can see a small temple where the trunk of Lord Ganesh appears!

The vivid appearance of the sea at the West coast stands out different from other sea coasts by its crystal clear water, shining and glittering in Sun rays. The evening Sun with its broad mind showers blue, red, orange, yellow, violet colors on water giving us a feeling that one memorable day is over and gives a hope that still a beautiful night is waiting for you!

The rustling sea and the clear, spotless blue sky above it appear as if one! Really made for each other!!! The sea waves ask us to move further & not to remain stagnant like a pond… They inspire us to move ceaselessly… Thus grow with time…

The sand at coast is white as against other beaches… prompting the children & even the adults :-) to built a castle or home.

Thus leaving our footprints and with sweet memories of this beautiful, divine and yet simple place we started our return journey…
